Lack of Identity, Ambiguity and Ambivalence as Reflected in The Reluctant Fundamentalist

Abstract
This study tries to examine lack of identity, ambiguity and ambivalence. The Pakistanis identity is progressively jeopardized after 9/11 state than it was ever previously. It is clear that the Pakistanis allocated to different groups at war with each other on political, spiritual and sectional issues. The paper sheds light on the main character, Changez for being strong and not being influenced by crucial situations he encountered. Hamid tries to show the real face of American after 9/11 events and how they quickly attribute false propaganda against Muslims. To have one sole national personality is basically inconceivable in such a circumstance, when Pakistan isn’t just occupied with war on terrorism but additionally a victim of terror. Individuals truthful to various crowds for the most part separated into dissidents and fundamentalists feel themselves minimized in their own general public. They are looked as ‘others’ in their own nation. 9/11 changed the picture of the Muslim world into fundamentalists and psychological militants until the end of time. Another fixation on Pakistani authors is the lack of principles, political and holy abuse of normal crowds, cruel assaults, and sectarianism and the subsequent growth of a character’s awareness of his individuality in an estranged social structure. Hamid endeavors to prove identity and explain ambiguity and ambivalence in society of different cultures. He shows love and peace to all people and he rejects all forms of violence. The paper is not about criticizing violence or bigotry. It is about protecting individual rights.

تحاول هذه الدراسة تقصي انعدام الهوية والغموض والتناقض الذي يتعرض له الفرد الباكستاني. تتعرض الهوية الباكستانية للخطر بشكل متزايد بعد أحداث 11 سبتمبر أكثر من أي وقت مضى. ومن الواضح أن الباكستانيين خصصوا مجموعات مختلفة في حالة حرب مع بعضها البعض حول قضايا سياسية وروحية ومذهبية. يسلط البحث الضوء على الشخصية الرئيسية، تشانجيز، لقوتها وعدم تأثرها بالمواقف الحاسمة التي تواجهها. يحاول الكاتب حميد إظهار الوجه الحقيقي للأمريكيين بعد أحداث 11 سبتمبر وكيف ينسبون بسرعة الدعاية الكاذبة ضد المسلمين. إن وجود شخصية وطنية واحدة أمر لا يمكن تصوره في مثل هذه الظروف، عندما لا تكون باكستان مشغولة بالحرب على الإرهاب فحسب، بل أيضاً ضحية للإرهاب. المخلصون لتوجهات مختلفة، المنفصلون في الغالب إلى منشقين وأصوليين، يشعرون بأنهم قد تم التقليل من شأنهم في مجتمعهم. يُنظر إليهم على أنهم “الآخرون” في أمتهم. لقد غيرت أحداث 11 سبتمبر صورة العالم الإسلامي إلى أصوليين ومتشددين نفسيين حتى النهاية. هناك توجه على ان المؤلفين الباكستانيين يفتقرون إلى المبادئ، بالإضافة الى الإساءة السياسية والدينية للجمهور، والاعتداءات القاسية، والطائفية والنمو اللاحق لوعي الشخصية بفرديتها في بنية اجتماعية مغتربة. يسعى حامد إلى إثبات الهوية وتفسير الغموض والتناقض في المجتمع على اختلاف ثقافاته. يظهر الكاتب المحبة والسلام لجميع الناس ويرفض كل أشكال العنف. لا يهدف البحث الى انتقاد العنف أو التعصب فحسب، بل يتعلق الأمر بحماية الحقوق الفردية.
